2024 Turbo dodge forum - 133 posts · Joined 2011. #1 · Aug 8, 2011. Not sure where to put this, so if it must be moved, thats no problem. I am planning on putting a 2005 Neon SRT 4 Turbo engine into my '84 Rampage. I am not sure if I will build up the engine or leave it stock. I am leaning towards building it somewhat to obtain 300/350 WHP with similiar torque.

In all my previous turbo vehicles, boost is limited only by the wastegate spring. So I finally installed the Turbo II Daytona radiator/intercooler in my 1985 GLH Turbo. I currently have a vacuum line that runs from the turbo to the wastegate, with a blue orifice in line. On this second rebuild crank was turned new oil pump and pickup installed as well. When installing both engines the pressure was about 65PSi when I primed the motor using a drill to pump up the pressure. Motor is a 2.5 w/o balance shafts. Your 01 Neon is a SOHC 16V 2.0L. If yours is an auto the MTX swap is the best bang for the buck. A 2.4 comes with the Dual cam 16V head and it does out flow the SOHC by a good bit. When I built my T2 engine for my 1985 Lebaron convertible in 2004 I was told to use that gasket. All of our 4 cylinder trans bolt up to the 2.4, except for one bolt hole doesn't line up by the front (below radiator) motor mount. You use the 2.2 flywheel/clutch. In all my previous turbo vehicles, boost is limited only by the wastegate spring. When manifold pressure surpasses the static force of the spring it is forced open and out goes the exhaust pressure. I have had a whine from the trans (A568) with the clutch released since the car was new. If yours is an auto the MTX swap is the best bang for the buck. A 2.4 comes with the Dual cam 16V head and it does out flow the SOHC by a good bit.
